These instructions are for laptop users with wireless connections who want to use the wireless network while on campus.

If you do not already have the latest version of the Penn State Virtual Private Network software (“VPN client”), you will need to install it.

(Note: You can use the laptop mobility ports found in the lobby of Woodland building to do this while on campus.)

•  Go to https://downloads.its.psu.edu/

•  Log in with your access account user id and password

•  Click on “Connecting to Penn State”

•  Click on the link to download the appropriate version of “VPN - Virtual Private Network”

•  Follow the onscreen instructions for your operating system to install the VPN client

Okay, now I have installed the VPN client. How do I use it?

Set your wireless adapter to use automatic addressing. Click here for a video demonstration of how this is accomplished.

Once your computer detects a wireless signal, connect to the network labeled "pennstate".

Start the Penn State VPN Client program and select “ITS Wireless at Abington”.

FIRST TIME ONLY: Highlight the “ITS Wireless at Abington” connection entry and choose “Set as Default Connection Entry” from the “Connection Entries” menu.

Click the “Connect” icon and log in with your access account user id and password.

You are now able to use the connection to surf the web, check email, etc.

What do I do after I am through using my wireless connection for this session?

Return to “VPN Client” and click the “Disconnect” icon when you are done.
