Information Sciences and Technology (IST)

Penn State Abington offers a B.S. in Information Sciences and Technology (IST) with the Integration and Application Option. The IST curriculum emphasizes the integration of computers, the internet and related cutting edge technologies to solve complex problems in a wide variety of organizations and institutions, including engineering, government, consulting, finance, security, telecommunications, healthcare, and business.

See senior lecturer Joe Oakes answer the question, "What is IST?"

  • Team work, project management and communication skills are integrated into a curriculum that has a strong emphasis on technical skills and innovative problem-solving
  • A 300-hour internship allows students to gain practical, real-world job experience prior to graduation
  • Students are encouraged to engage in our international study abroad program with our partner institution, the University of Applied Sciences Hof in Bavaria, Germany and/or participate in international internships such as at the SAP World Headquarters in Germany.
