Do you think you could forecast the weather better than the meteorologists on television? Come to Weather Camp and find out! Campers will receive hands-on training in many aspects of weather, including how to make a reliable forecast for snowstorms, severe weather, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Come join us for lab activities and field experiments that expand your knowledge of atmospheric sciences. We will collect important data such as: air temperature, dew point temperature, humidity, wet and dry bulb temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and air pressure. Learn how to use computer forecasting models and make the important connections between meteorology and our daily lives. Students will learn team-building skills, enhance their peer communication, and participate in a weather forecasting contest. This will all culminate in a storm design scenario in which campers choose a theme and play the role of a meteorologist.
