For those of you who were not at Opening Meeting I wanted to let you know that we are moving forward in our efforts to assist faculty in their research, creative and scholarly endeavors. As such Eva Klein is now dividing her responsibilities between Academic Affairs and Continuing Education. In her role in Academic Affairs she will continue to manage our summer offerings, and her work with credit certificates actually bridges both units. Her new responsibility is that of serving as the college's Research Administrator. As such, she has attended several trainings over the past 6 months, was primarily responsible for the production of the monograph distributed at Opening Meeting containing the compilation of faculty work for the calendar years 2010 & 2011, and hosted two grant related workshops in September. She is also convening an advisory committee, which will be co-chaired by Steve McMillan.
Eva and I are participating in a group that has formed that consists of administrators at the five campus college and a representative from VP Hanes' Office. We meet once each semester in an effort to increase grantsmanship across the commonwealth campuses and to share ideas.
We have placed a Faculty Grant Routing Form in our Intranet for your use. This will allow us to track grant activity each fiscal year. It is very important that we know which faculty are applying to which foundations and governmental agencies. As our activities increases we do not want to compete against ourselves.
Eva has also created an online presence to highlight our research efforts and she is happy to receive your submissions:
Lastly we also have a Facebook page.
I was lucky to join a campus that already had a committed group of scholars. Eva and I are working to support your efforts and hopefully make your work lives better!
