This Center brings together several already existing groups to better serve both faculty and students under the leadership of Ron Costello. The Center for Teaching & Learning includes what was formerly the Learning Center, the Testing Center, Instructional Design and IMS. The synergy that exists across and within these units will lead to some exciting developments. Currently the Center is not housed in one space but we are moving in that direction. Ron is updating the web pages to reflect the new changes. You will note under the drop down menu for Academic Affairs an option for "Teaching & Learning." As the semester progresses it is here that you will find much of the information related to the services for this new configuration. The personnel for the Center include: Ron Costello, Susan Pasciolla, Anne Prior, Ben Goldberg and Andy Cinquino (as well as the part-time staff formerly employed in the tutoring center in disability services and tutoring). Ron's new office is 220 Sutherland. Susan is in 223 Sutherland. Ben and Andy are in 218 Sutherland (and Susan will be spending some time in there as well). Currently Anne and the staff for the Learning Center remain on the 3rd floor of Sutherland. Very soon there will be a faculty lab with two work stations in 225 Sutherland.
I wish to thank the Chancellor, CNS and Business Services who worked together to make this transition possible. There are still overlapping responsibilities which will be managed as the year unfolds, but essentially the technology needs related to pedagogy and instruction are now the responsibility of the Center for Teaching & Learning.
If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to either me or Ron.
Best, Norah
