Michael Bernstein, along with his Co-PI Heather M. Claypool, Professor of Psychology at Miami University, were awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation entitled "Social exclusion as a determinant of individuation and stereotyping.”
A proposal entitled "STEM Academic Research Training engaging Underrepresented Pennsylvanians (START-UP)" prepared by Christopher House, from PSU’s College of Earth & Mineral Sciences, has been awarded from NASA. Ann Schmiedekamp participated in the submission of this proposal. As such the project provides eight students here the opportunity to work in a lab for approximately 10 hours per week.
"Against Their Will: The Secret History of Medical Experimentation on Children in Cold War America" by Allen M. Hornblum, Judith L. Newman and Gregory J. Dober
"The Consumption of Inequality: Weapons of Mass Distraction" by Karen Halnon
Several of these items have been highlighted elsewhere but it’s nice to bring them all together and to note that there are many more. Next time I’m going to highlight our “Global Fall” – which includes students visiting and studying on our campus from Japan and Germany and conference presentations by faculty and students at University Park, Providence and Cuba!
