Robotics in Italy, a “3+1 course,” will be held at Penn State Abington during the spring semester with travel in summer semester (1-credit). Prerequisite courses are required to participate. The 1-credit course will take place in Rome, Italy in
association with Roma Tre University. Students in the 1-credit study abroad component in robotics will be exposed to international faculty with robotics expertise.
There will also be an opportunity to engage in learning robotics with international students, and there will be visits to university robotics laboratories, international companies, and organizations which incorporate robotics.
Cultural sites, including those related to robotics and engineering design, will be explored. This international, 1-credit course will augment and enhance select 3-credit Engineering and Information Science Technology (IST) courses which cover topics in robotics (including IST 402 Robotics and ENGR 297 Robotics, both offered in spring 2014). Academic topics in the international course include industrial, medical, social applications of robotics, virtual world modeling of robotics, and software design and computer vision in robotics. Sightseeing and culturalvisits in sites in Rome, Italy will be included.
This international course will enhance and supplement select 3-credit courses in Information Science & Technology (IST) and Engineering which includes topics in Robotics:
