Organizational Communication in Japan

This particular study abroad course takes advantage of the opportunity to study organizational communication from a global perspective; in particular from the perspective of one of our largest trading partners: Japan.

Japan has the third largest national economy in the world and a close relationship with the US thereby making it likely that students will incorporate course-related learning at some point in their professional lives.

Japan has a unique overall history and culture, epitomized by cultural sites in Kyoto that will be visited. In addition, the class will visit international organizations in Fukuoka and Tokyo, some of which have a predominantly Japanese culture and some of which have a predominantly Western culture.

Students will have the opportunity to explore Tokyo, a top-tier international city with a blend of cultural influences. In addition, the course includes seminars with Japanese students on the campus of  Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka. Students will have the opportunity to experience  firsthand a contemporary Japanese university while conversing with bilingual (Japanese and English) faculty and students.
