The Art major combines traditional and contemporary approaches to making art while developing majors’ artistic, critical, and communication skills.

Art MajorArt majors at Penn State Abington earn a liberal arts education that prepares them for a professional career in the arts or graduate study.

The major offers two areas of concentration: Two-Dimensional Arts – painting, drawing, and printmaking – and Three-Dimensional Arts – sculpture and ceramics.

Art majors visit galleries and museums in the region during the course of their studies and intern with professional artists or local art or cultural institutions.

Art majors have the opportunity to view and participate in on campus Art Exhibitions: Bertha Lear Student Art Exhibition, the Alumni Art Exhibition and traveling exhibitions like Arctic Quest. Additionally, they have the opportunity to participate in critiques with visiting artists, a recent visitor was Faith Ringgold.

Adding a minor such as business can enrich one’s education in art and provide additional flexibility in the choice of a career.
