Leadership Development
Leadership Development occurs all over campus at Penn State Abington. Whether you are in class, participating in a club or team sport, volunteering in the community, or leading a campus organization, opportunities to develop leadership skills are endless. The Office of Student Life works to provide programs designed to help students develop an awareness of their own skills, abilities, and leadership potential.

Abington Leadership Program
To provide leadership education for excellence in and out of the classroom, the Abington Leadership Program committee plans a comprehensive schedule of leadership offerings. Annually this program has multiple components, some of which include
  • Leadership education seminars
  • Student Life Executive Internship
  • Organizational leadership class
  • Alumni networking opportunities
  • Student leadership awards and recognition
  • Coordination of programs with the AT&T Center for Service Leadership at University Park
For more information on this program, please e-mail Gina Kaufman, or call 215.881.7510.

Student Government Association (SGA)
SGA is recognized as the official representative voice of the student body at Penn State Abington. The primary commitment of SGA members is to provide responsible leadership and reflect the opinion and will of all segments of the student body. Regular meetings are held to carry out its many responsibilities: initiating legislation concerning the student welfare, supporting functions and activities on campus, assuming financial responsibility for SGA funds and the financial records of all registered student organizations, and the approval and governance of the student organizations. SGA, the student organizations, and the Associate Director of Student Affairs work together to impact the student body through effective decision-making, communication, and leadership. The SGA Office is located in Lares Union Building, downstairs from the campus nurse's office.

Lares Entertainment and Programming (LEAP)
LEAP is Penn State Abington's major student programming group. While working with the Coordinator of Student Life Programs, the organization coordinates social and cultural entertainment and community building events for the general student body. LEAP activities include novelty acts, comedians, musical groups, dances, lectures speakers, and All-"U"Day.

Orientation Leaders
Orientation leaders welcome and aid new students in their transition to college life and are selected for their enthusiasm, knowledge and ability to work well with others. For more information on how to become an Orientation Leader, please e-mail Gina Kaufman, or call 215.881.7510.
