Dedicated to supporting the needs of Penn State Abington’s diverse student, staff and faculty communities.

Intercultural Affairs

Mission Statement
Our mission is to create an inclusive campus community where everyone feels welcomed. The Office will help to expose you to individual and group experiences that help you form bonds of understanding and leadership. We strive to support you in your self-discovery, personal growth, assertiveness, awareness, advocacy, empowerment, social justice, and inclusivity. We provide a network of services and programs that foster discussions related to the creation of a multi-ethnic, culturally-conscious university.

Through our various programs such as cultural celebrations, educational workshops, diversity training, and diversity leadership retreats, as well as many other programs; we expose you to experiences in a safe learning environment which you may not get elsewhere in life. All members of the campus community and neighboring communities are welcome to participate in these programs. The Office of Intercultural Affairs will always challenge you to continually learn about yourself, your cultures, other cultures, and the impact that it has in your everyday life.

Jose RodriguezA Note from the Coordinator:
Being a part of the Penn State Abington community is a privilege, which no one should take for granted. It is up to you to not just attend classes, walk through campus, but to open yourself up to the possibilities of finding your true self. We welcome you to express who you are at any time and moment so you can get the most out of your time here. We look forward to getting to know you and seeing you learn and grow. My office door is open for you at any time. I am looking forward to the journey.

Shaun DoyleA Note from the Assistant to the Coordinator:
Before you, as you embark on your college career, is an enormous opportunity to transform yourself - beyond the limitations inherent to adolescents and imposed upon you by society. On your journey you will be presented with opportunities to question yourself and learn lessons in order to think critically and as independently as possible. This is the key to growth. The mission of the Office and my goal is to facilitate this amazing transformation. The most fulfilling part of my day is watching students emerge into thoughtful, kind yet strong individuals I know that they can be.

John NguyenA Note from the Intercultural Counselor:
Your college experience is what you make of it. Whether you are comfortable or uncomfortable with leadership and/or diversity, we provide you the avenues to create your own vision, opinion, and understanding. I encourage you to look deep within yourself and challenge the things that make you feel uncomfortable. Bridging the gap to understanding is difficult to do alone, however allow us to point you in the direction you feel is best for you. You hold the key to unlocking your potential.
