Leadership Development is a critical component of the student experience at Penn State Abington. Whether in class, participating in a club or team sport, volunteering in the community, or leading a campus organization the opportunities to develop personal leadership skills are limitless. Abington LEAD Program (Leadership Education and Development Program)
The mission of the Abington LEAD Program is to provide leadership development to all students regardless of experience or skill level. The Abington Leadership Program supports Penn State Abington’s commitment to active and collaborative learning, campus and community service, and civility across the cultures.
What is LEAD:
- A leadership development series providing students with the skills needed to succeed personally and professionally.
- Students that participate in the workshops can receive LEAD Certification. Student organizations can also earn certification if four or more members earn certification.
- Students may participate in any LEAD workshop/program without working towards earning LEAD certification.
Who is LEAD designed for?
- Any student that wishes to learn leadership and organizational skills and strategies.
- Members of student organizations.
- Students who desire to hold positions of leadership in the Penn State community.
How will students benefit from the workshops/lectures?
- Market co-curricular experiences to potential employers and graduate schools.
- Identify your strengths and challenges and develop an action plan for personal and professional growth.
- Develop skills and strategies that are critical for success in organizational, academic, and professional environments.
LEAD Certification Requirements:
- Attend four approved programs between September and March.
- Program offerings will include campus lectures, leadership workshops and service events. A calendar is provided at the start of each semester.
- All service events and lectures will require a reflective component to be submitted within 48 hours of the event. Reflective form is available electronically.
